A spectacular cycling vacation in North America's "Ancient City"
Experience European Charm & American History!
Cost $2290 per person All Inclusive 5 Days/4 Nights
March 14 - 18, 2010
Come visit the beginning...the oldest city in the United States, which due to the insight of Henry Flagler, eventually became America's "playground," providing relief for the leisure travelers of the northern states during the cold winter season.
One of the highlights of this trip is visiting Anastasia Park, which aside from being a protected bird sanctuary, has miles of beautiful, sandy beaches and is the point from which cross country cyclists begin (or end) their journey across the southern tier of the USA!
Among the many historical sites we will enjoy is a visit to Castillo San Marcos, a fortress dating back to the 1600's that has been able to withstand enemy fire as well as numerous violent storms over the years, also having been utilized by the military during WWII.
Another historical site on the tour, via a short ferry ride, is Fort Matanzas, which was built by the Spanish in 1740, and provided an important vantage point in allowing St. Augustine to be a city never to be conquered!
Aside from comfortable cycling at your own pace each day about 2 hours (support van always available), other activities to be enjoyed are the infamous ghost tour, a scenic cruise, a horse & carriage ride, a leisurely stroll & shopping along the brick-lined St. George Street, the Lightner Museum and the St. Augustine Lighthouse.
Dining experiences at area restaurants will range from the Conch House Restaurant - unique caribbean style huts with water views to those with international flare - the infamous Columbia Restaurant on St. George St., each memorable and with a delicious menu for you to choose from.
We choose nice hotels or inns for our group to stay at.
This tour includes all accommodations, meals, snacks, water bottles, drinks, van support, driver, cycling guide, entrance fees, recumbent trikes, helmets, and more!
